it's almost satirical at romance (well I don't think almost, but that's safer to say) pretty much taking away from yourself to romanticize, or make romance work, is what I got out of it. it flows like warm maple syrup on frozen pancakes (ohhh, busting out poetical comments on poetry)

"Taking away from yourself," is definitely on the right track. Actually, that plays a big part into this, but not in the metaphorical way -- Surprise! It was intended as a quite literal statement and kind of highlights just how FAR some people would go to woo the object of their desire. (Plus a few other subliminal references, like February getting too much credit as our 'designated' month of love.) You are a revolutionary, Sir. -- "I love when you make the dictionary your bitch."
